Son of the late Esther Wambura and the late Muiga Kimacu. Husband of Agnes Wairimu. Father of Evalline Nyambura, Dennis Muiga and Esther Waithiegeni. Brother of the late Mary Wangui Kanyora, James Kimari of Welfare Hardware Makandara Joseph Mwangi (Ndereva) of Mwangaza Hardware Kariobangi, the late William Wanjohi. Step brother of Wangui, Wangari, Wangeci, the late Waruhiu, the late Wakiuru.

Grand Father of Zuri Mghoi, Pendo Wairimu among others. Also an uncle of Meja Gathiru MP Embakassi Central, John Kagucia Speaker Nyeri County among others.

The cortege leaves KU Mortuary on 20th June 2020, to be laid to rest at his rural home Kangurwe village Mukurwe-ini Nyeri.
