ALICE NAKHUNGU MATERE

It is with profound sadness that we announce the untimely demise of Alice Nakhungu Matere that occurred on 22nd November, 2024.

She was born to the late Wellington Wanyama and the late Regina Wanyama. She was step-daughter of Ruth Wanyama. 

She was a loving wife of the late Henry Matere Kibanani and a mother of Nancy, Carol, Pam, Will, Dan and the late Emily.

Daughter-in-law of the late Zebedayo Kibanani and the late Turuteya Kibanani.

She was a caring sister of Mary, Bart, Mike (USA), Prof. Mzenga (USA), Ben, Joseph (USA), David (USA), Irene, Wamamili, Martin, Paul, Alice, Jane, and the lates Rose and Catherine.

Sister-in-law of Carolyne (USA), Mary (USA), Juliet, Lennie (USA), Bonny, Diana (USA), Dickson, Raymond, Florence, Luke, and the lates Tom, and Rispah among others.

She was, mother-in-law of Jerim, Denis, Mike and Eunice, grandmother of Tim, Chantall, Solange, Junior, Sean, Savanna, Jude, Maya, Kaylah, Sasha, Asher, and Sanira.

Cousin of the late Vice President Michael Kijana Wamalwa, Francesca (USA), Former CS Eugene Wamalwa, Robert, Celestine, Jane, Steven, Paula, Nancy, Samson, Colonel Noah among others.

A fundraising is set for 29th November 2024 at her home in Lugulu and a memorial service set for 2nd December 2024 at Lugulu Friends Church.

This will be followed by an overnight stay at her house behind Lugulu Boarding and then the body will proceed to her farm in Makhonge Village where she will be laid to rest on 4th December, 2024.
