When a hero sleeps, the world, all of a sudden, becomes a lonely place. This is the reason Yetu Sacco fraternity is engulfed in grief by the passing on of Mr. Gideon Gichunge Manyara. We wonder why such great knowledge, empowerment and library of ideas has to be sleeping when we need them, but in the realisation that he has already given us more than he could, we happily release him to the Higher Grace.

Director Gideon Gichunge Manyara was a founding member of Yetu Sacco Society Limited, having been part of the team that carried the vision to ensure financial inclusion and uplift people’s lives, 31 years ago. As the longest serving Board Member, Gichunge was a staunch proponent of improved socio-economic status of the members and passionately advocated for financial literacy, and would always encourage the members to develop the culture of saving. Gichunge’s zealous contribution as part of the Board of Directors propelled the Sacco from its initial seed capital of Kshs. 200,000 in the year 1991, to an asset base of Kshs. 4.7 billion, where it stands today.This growth is a true exhibit of his unmatched desire for success and his belief in creating wealth to be enjoyed by unlimited generations.
