ESTHER WANJIRU KAGIRA

1932 – 2022

It is with humble acceptance of God’s will that we announce the passing on of our mother, grandmother, friend and Sister in Christ Esther Wanjiru Kagira of Kanderendu, Makomboki Location, Kigumo Sub-county, Muranga County which occurred on Tuesday, 6th July 2022.

She was a loving wife of the late Solomon Kagira Mugo. She was the first born daughter of the late Moses Ngure and the late Loise Wangui Ngure. Her siblings were the late Daniel Kimari (Mai Mahiu), the late Njuguna Ngure (Kanunga),the late Grace Waithera Geoffrey (Kimotho), the late Miriam Wambui Githae (Ndakaini), the late Ruth Muthoni Kamau (Kuresoi), the late Wanjiku Kagari (Gathiga, Kiambu), Rev. Chege ACC&S (Kanunga), Chief Onesmus Maina (Kanunga), Dr. Josephine Ngure (ADB, Tunisia) and many others.

Mother to Eliud Mwangi (Formerly, KPS), Rachel Njeri (Israel), Jeniffer Wangui, Moses Ngure (Businessman), the late Patrick Njuguna, Charity Kagutha (Thika High Sch), Daniel Kagira (KRA), Elias Kiarie (Africa Nazarene University), Dr. John Kagira (JKUAT), Grace Waithera and Peter Karam. She was also a proud step-mother to David Njoroge (Ex-Chief), Paul Mwangi, Cyrus Njuguna, Eddy Njuguna, Mugo Kibeca, Julius Muhia, JP Mwangi (Director, KTDA Njunu), Ruth Wander’ (Amboni, Mweiga),Virginia Mugure and many others.

Mother-in-law to Duncan Ndegwa, Grace Wanjiku, Ruth Wanjiru, Beatrice Waithera, Dr. Nixon K. Niue, Agatha Munyaka, Dr. Sarah Kimani (Catholic University) and CPA Anne Karanja (KRB) .r. and many others.

She was a co-wife to (all late) Bertha, Marion, Damaris, Grace and Joyce Wairimu. She was a grandmother to 33 immediate grandchildren, 25 immediate great-grandchildren and one immediate great-great-grandchild and over 1,000 others.

Family and friends are meeting daily at her home in Kanderendu, Edgewood Hotel -Thika and Holy Family Basilica –Nairobi (11th & 12th July, 2022 from 5.00pm) for prayers and burial arrangements.

The cortege leaves Montezuma Monalisa Funeral Home Kabati, Thika on Thursday, 14th July 2022 at 7.30 am.The funeral ceremony will be conducted at ACC&S Church, Nyatarugu – Kanderendu at 10.00 am and thereafter burial to take place at her home.

Until her demise, she was a staunch Christian with unwavering faith and she was a member of East African Revival (Tukutendereza)
