FRANCIS MWANGI KARURI (WA-KARURI)

He came in mid-1931 at the height of the buildup to the World War 2, marking the beginning of an era for this great man. 89 years later, after fighting many battles, including as a Mau Mau combatant, he has departed, having touched the lives of many in Maston Village, Warazojet, Kieni Constituency, Nyeri County where he lived with his family. That is the life of Francis Mwangi Karuri (Wa-Karuri), who rested on September 26, 2020, marking a dramatic end to an era of triumph for the gentleman, father, uncle, grandpa and great grandpa who had a great influence on many of us.

His demise is certainly an immense loss to many and today, we remember with gratitude his life, his accomplishments, and we give thanks to the Almighty for the incredible things he did for humanity. His sweetheart Timina Wambui would slip away from his hands late 1999.

He was a visionary leader who served Kabaru Ward as a councillor, having started off as a clerk at a timber mill, then a cobbler and later a shoe dealer in Kiganjo. As a seasoned farmer, Grandpa excelled in producing wheat, pyrethrum and milk for both local and export markets. He peacefully died in his sleep, leaving behind 8 children (Late Justus, Susan, Geoffrey, Rosemary, Priscilla, Lydia, William, and Juliet). He was the inlaw to the late Jane, Nguyo, Jane, Alfred and Mary. He will fondly be remembered by his 20 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren,

He will be laid to rest on Friday October 2, 2020 at his home In Maston from 11am.

His absence is a silent grief, his life a beautiful memory. His rich legacy lives on. RIP Wa-Karuri.

From Family, Friends and Relatives and those whose hearts you touched.
