Our Matriarch has Rested

Ambassador Ernest Lang’at and family wish to announce the resting of our beloved Matriarch, Mama Ludiah Cherotich Lang’at. Ludiah rested on the morning of Wednesday 18th March 2020, at the age of 86. She lived a fulfilled life.

Ludiah was the daughter of the late Senior Chief Daudi Kirui and the late Tabutanyi Kirui. She is the sister of the late Mary Ngasura, Sara Tuei, Naomi Chumo, Anna Koech, Marigo Chumo, and Miriam Tele. Sister-in-law to Philip, Albert, Evelyn, Tele, and Tuei. Step-sister to Joseph Chumo, Baranbus Chumo, Jeremiah Chumo, Joel Chumo, Jane Mutai, Steven Chumo, Esther Keter, Rebecca Kileges, Betty Cheruiyot and the late Vivian Cheruiyot. And also step sister to the late Jacob Chumo and Ruth Lang’at.

Sister-in-law to the late Leah Sang, the late Jeremiah Lang’at, Elizabeth Koske, Noah Lang’at, the late Anna Lang’at, the late Isaac and Jane, Rachel, Ruth, Rael and Michael Sang.

Married for 62 years to her husband Ernest, Ludiah was a loving mother to her nine daughters Nancy Lang’at, the late Alice Lagat, Prof. Caroline Thoruwa, Dr. Betty Chirchir, Dr. Judith Mutahi, Rosemary Rop, Audrey Rahedi, Joyce Githu and Valerie Lang’at. Mother-in-law to Prof. Thomas Thoruwa, Fred Lagat, Davis Chirchir, Prof. Mutahi Ngunyi, Kimutai Rop, Bill Rahedi and Githu Nderitu.

Batiem was also a devoted and loving grand-mother to Vanessa, Yvonne, Brian, Keith, Daniella, Abrahaminel, Michael, Jonathan, Cheptoo, Chebet, June, Nicola, Mimi, Kipkoech, Tapkili, Tanyi, Boboi, Rotuk, Ritho, Shiro and great-grand-mother to Ella Netai.

In acknowledgement of the times, a celebration service will be held in Nairobi by invitation only on Monday 23rd March 2020.

Ludiah will be laid to rest at the family’s Kaptebeswet Farm, Kericho on Wednesday 25th March 2020.This ceremony will also be by invitation only.
