Death and Funeral Announcement of Mrs. Emily Njoki Mwangi Gitika

Today we celebrate our mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, Mrs. Emily Njoki Mwangi Gitika, who has rested in the Lord peacefully in her sleep on 26th March 2020 at around 9.30pm.

Cucu, as we all called her, was the wife of our late dad, Mr. John Mwangi Gitika, and she had several sisters and brothers. She was the mother of the late Helen Wanjiru (Kiria), Josephine Mwende (Kitengela) Dr. Margaret Gachara (Nairobi), Professor Tabitha Ndung’u (USIU, Nairobi), Mrs Mercy Karanja (Seattle), Mr. David Gitika (Actor, Uncle Dii, Nairobi), Mr Joseph Kamau (Kiambu), Dr. Faith Mwangi-Powell (London), and Mr. Peter Gitika (Nairobi).

She was grandmother of (late) Faith, Robert, Emmah, Lilian, Josephine and (late) Kenneth Gitau (Nairobi); Emmah Njoki (Phoenix), Caroline Muhoro (Nairobi); Jack, Jerry, Pam and Olive Gachara (Nairobi); Caroline Kania, Tony Ndung’u (Nairobi) and Edwin Mathenyu (Qatar); Eva Wangui (Reading), Edwin Waidhima (Nakuru) and Olivia Karanja (Nairobi); Stella Njoki (Laikipia), Dennis Kamau (Kiambu) and Derrick Mwangi (St. Peters and Paul); Jake Mwangi-Powell (Nottingham), Frank Mwangi (Debrecen) and Fredrick Ndirangu (UoN) and Eric Mbogoro (Marion Preparatory).

Mother-in-law of Erastus Gitau (Kiria), (late) Dr. Gachara, Dr. Francis Ndung’u (Pastor Marurui Church), Simeon Karanja (Seattle), Nancy Wambui (Murang’a), Grace Njeri (Acorn School); Tony Powell (London) and Alice Wanjiru (KIST). She is survived by several great grandchildren.

Although we are sad of say goodbye of our dear mum and cucu, we are thankful that she lived a long and lovely life which we celebrate with thanksgiving and awe of God’s goodness and faithfulness.

Due of the current government guidelines, we will hold a private funeral service at her home in Kiritu Farm, Munyutha village on Tuesday 31st March 2020, but when all the restrictions are lifted we will hold a public celebration of a life well lived.
