It is with humble acceptance of God’s will that we announce the promotion to glory of Mwalimu Joyce Mbeti Mathagu on 13.11.2022 after a long illness bravely borne. She was a devoted, virtuous matriarch with a heart of Gold that touched many lives.

Born to the late Gakuthi Mwarakige and the late Rebeca Mbandi. Wife to the late Robinson Mathagu. Cowife to Peris Muturi Mathagu. Sister to the late Solomon Nyaga Gakuthi, the late Abraham Njeru, & Siphira Gatiti.

Loving Mother to the late Priscilla Muthoni, David Njiru (Mwanika Primary School-Meru), Obadiah Mathagu (ICEA LION), the late Samuel Karani (SK). Step mother to the late Farida Nginya, Kepha Mike (Jozi K Ltd), the late Liza Muthoni, Lucetta Mbandi, Stella Ndegi (Vineyard Academy), Cate Mbuya (Premier Kenya Ltd) & the late Flora Rwamba.

Mother-in-law to Margaret Njiru (Kathanje Health Center), Everlyne Musee (US Embassy), Lucy Ndugu, Liz Njuguna (CIC Insurance Group) & Joseph Kariuki (Ngong’).

Grandma to Joy Wendo (KU), Timothy Mbogo (MUT), Gideon Mwenda, Keziah Muthoni, Cliff Murithi (CUEA), Kevin Moses (Murang’a High), Abigail Hadassah (Happyland), Shem Kivuti,  Jeff Kimanthi (Nyangwa Boys), Roy Muthomi (St Philiph Neri), Robbi, Zazorah Faraja, Januarius, Tobias, Valencia Ng’endo,Mark Njenga, Liam Mathagu, Prudence Kendi, Brandon Mwakio, Prince Mathagu, Batian Mwalimu & Ian Gishira. Aunt & great grandmother to many. She had many mentees and friends.

Family and friends are meeting at her home in Muminji and at Norwich Union Towers Nairobi from 6.00pm to 8.00pm on weekdays.

The cortege leaves Gakwegori Funeral home Embu on 26.11.2022 at 8.00am for funeral service t ACK Emmanuel Church Gangara, thereafter interment at her home in Kitharu Village, Muminji location, Mbeere North Sub County, Embu County.

The Lord gave and the Lord has taken. In God’s hands you rest, in our hearts you live forever. Blessed be the name of the Lord.
