DR. GEOFFREY MAROA MAHANGA

It is with deep sorrow and humble acceptance of God’s will that we announce the sad demise of Dr. Geoffrey Maroa Mahanga of Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology, which occurred on 14th February, 2021 at Avenue Hospital – Kisumu, after a short illness.

Son of Hon. Nelson Mahanga and the late Mary Boke Mahanga. Step-son of Consolata Nyomahe. Husband of Jane Sawi. Doting father of Sandra Maroa (USA), Sally Maroa (USA), Mary Maroa and Maria Maroa. Loving brother of Jane Mahanga, Lydia Mahanga, Susan Mahanga, Leah Mahanga and Ezrom Mwita Chacha. Grandson of the late Francis Maroa O’Gire, Pauline Gati, the late Ezrom Mwita O’Chacha and the late Ludia Mogesi O’Mwita. Son-in-law of the late Sawi Mwita Rotente and Elizabeth Mboto Sawi. Brother-in-law of Paul Karanja, Nicholas Gitau and Eddie Kaddebe. Uncle of Rodney Mwita, Nathaniel Mwita, Raphael Kinuthia, Reuben Mwaura Maroa, Jeremy Maroa, Jude Mburu and Nuru Jahenda.

Friends and relatives are meeting daily at his upcountry home in Gwitembe for prayers and funeral arrangements.

The cortege will leave Avenue Hospital Mortuary – Kisumu, on 23rd February, 2021, for an overnight stay in Gwitembe. Burial will be on 24th February, 2021, in Gwitembe village, Kuria East starting 10:00am.
