It is with deep sadness that the family, Board of Directors, Management, Staff and fraternity of Metropolitan Cannon General Insurance announce the peaceful passing of Inderjit Talwar in his sleep on the morning of Sunday 09th August 2020.

Mr Talwar is survived by his wife Nirmalla K. Talwar of 57 years with whom he shared three loving children, Vishy Talwar, Bindu Baccini and Vinaya Pinto (Bubbles). He was father in law to GianFranco Baccini and Douglas Pinto and grandfather to Brando Baccini, Bindia Baccini, Sky Pinto, Daksh Talwar and Ruhan Talwar. He also leaves behind two brothers, Satish and Vijay and a sister, Vinod.

The late Mr. Talwar was a man of the golfing community where he was past Chairman of Kenya Golf Union (KGU), past Chairman of Kenya Golfing Society (KGS), past Chairman at Mombasa Golf Club, past Chairman at Nyali Golf and Country Club and served for many years as Tournament Director to the prestigious Kenya Open. Additionally Inder was an accomplished insurance guru, a shrewd and honest business man with strong family values and was widely known for his wisdom, prudence and high ethical values. For over 20 years he served as the Managing Director and subsequently Chairman of the former Cannon Assurance Limited before the merger with MMI, which birthed the Metropolitan Cannon brand in Kenya where he also served in the respective boards of the companies under this brand. Many generations will remember the iconic Cannon gun on Haile Selassie Avenue in Nairobi which now stands at the Mombasa Road office and which will forever remain a testament of one of his long lasting legacies.

Inder, your legacy of discipline and honest hard work will remain with us for years to come. Your candle burns on – brighter and clearer, lighting the way for those who come after.
