JOHN KERAGE MATONDA

1947 – 2021

Mr. John Kerage Matonda the indefatigable retired educationist who served the education sector in various capacities, breathed his last on 2nd November, 2021, at the Mombasa Hospital. During his career, he served as Principal Migori TTC and Kisii Diploma College (now Kisii University), Kisii High School, Riokiondo High School, Matongo High. He Served as the Chairman KNUT in the larger Gusii, and KICD Council. He was serving member of the BOM Moi Gesusu High School.

Beloved husband to the late Foibe Nyabina Munema. Son of the late Jesai Matonda and the late Sibia Nyambunde. Step-son to the late Drusilla Bonareri. Son-in-law to the late Zakaria Munema and the late Sara; Katende Father to Emma Morara (Pr. Rianchore), the late Caroline Ndubi, Arnold Matonda (USA) , Irene Mokua (Mawenzi), Cliff Munema Matonda (James Finlay), Jesai Matonda (KICD), Samwel Onchari (Nyamira Dry Cleaners), Tony Blair Kerage (Kamusinga High).

Brother to the late Sarah Okirigiti, the late Batsheba Gisemba Abigael Bosibori, the late Eunice Tunai, Benjamin Nyamweya (KTDA Board).Anna Kwamboka, Josephine Michori, Priscilla Ondigi, the late Monica Otoki, Jennifer Obutu, Charles Matonda (USA) the late Carren Aiko, Rose Nyandieka, the late Vane Matonda, Risper Ongwae, Eric Kiyega, Linet Mayoyo and Janet Mariamu Oigara.

Grandfather to Sonia, Adrianna. Kezia, Charlene. Nicole. David, Jesse, Fibi, Jeremy, Hadassah, Tamara, Megan, Stephanie, Phoebe, Amina, Caoimhe & Dawid. Father-in-law to George Morara (MOE-Gatundu North), Josphat Ndubi (Advocate), Linda Kwamboka Matonda (USA), George Mokua (Mokua Onwonga & Co. / ICPAK Chairman), Betty Kerubo Munema (MOM Advocates), Rehema Mwebi Matonda (KIMC).

Brother-in-law to Debora Munema, Obadiah Munema, Dr. Fares Munema, Prisca Nyamweya, Winnie Matonda , Everlyn Kiyega, among others. Uncle to James, Dr. Kesero, Kennedy, Dennis, Nyanchoka, Lilian, Dora, Matini, Judith, Irene, Mellen, Dolpine. Memorial service will be held on 17th November 2021 At Serena SDA Church – Mombasa starting at 4:30pm.

The cortege leaves Jocham Mortuary – Mombasa on 18th November, 2021. Funeral Ceremony will be at Iterio High School grounds on 19th November, 2021, there after burial at his Gesonso Residence.

There will be fundraisers in Nairobi at Nairobi Central SDA (Maxwell Old sanctuary) – Tuesday 16th 5.00pm, Mombasa – Girl-Guide, Shanzu on Sunday 14th 2.00pm, Kisii – Dans Hotel – on Tuesday 16th November starting 11.00am.
