MARY NEKESA OKERE

It is with utmost gratitude to God, yet with deep sorrow and sadness we announce the untimely death of Mama Mary Nekesa Okere (Handmaid of the Lord) of Ebukwala village, Matungu Sub-County, Kakamega County which occurred on 12th June, 2020 after a long illness.

Daughter of the late John Kubebea and the late Pauline Kubebea of Bulanda, Busia County. Wife of Dr. John Makokha Okere (formerly of Moi University). Mother of Maximillar Wanga (Kibabii University), Paul Bwire (St. Peter’s Mumias), Sabina Namukuru (Koyonzo Sec. School), Eng. Antony Makokha Okere (Engineers Board of Kenya), Adelheid Mutebi (Bishop Musembi Primary School), Felistus Adhiambo (NCWSC) and Mary-Classina Nasonga (Melbourne, Australia). Sister of Victorine, Phaustine, Edward, Patrick, the late Joseph and the late Tom. Mother-in-law of Micah Barasa, Oscar Mukoko, David Lusweti, Lilian Savatia and Ruth Bikambo. Grandmother of Mercy, Clement, Lindsey, Quincy, Edward, Carlson, Xavier, Shane, Ethan Johnson, Chloe, Shadiel, Shelyon and Shanisa (Maria Nekesa).

The cortege leaves Lifecare Hospital, Bungoma today for the requiem Mass and burial tomorrow (Tuesday 16/6/2020) at her home in Ebukwala village, Matungu subcounty, Kakamega.
