It is with profound sadness and sorrow that we, the Family of Mrs. Milcah Kemunto Matangi Okemwa, wish to announce her passing on the afternoon of Friday, September 4th 2020, after a long illness. Throughout her 72 years, Mum lived a fulfilled life.

She was the last-born Daughter to the late Phillip Gekonde and late Dinah Mandere; Sister to late Rosebella, late Penina, late Samuel, Martha, late Esther and Miriam; Daughter-in-law to the late Petro Okemwa Nyachanchu and the late Pauline Mong’are; Sister- in-law to the late John Omburo, late Francis Amwatah, late Michael Michoe, Helen Marinda, and the late Anna Buyaki. Mum was the Loving Wife to the late Benson Matangi Okemwa (Kenya Police/NIS) and ever-loving Mother to Judy, Justin (Radio Africa Group ‘Dr Love), Dr. Gladys Moragwa (KMFRI), Samson, Eliud and the late Emily. She was the doting Grandmother to Moraa, Isaac, Teri, and Milkah; Auntie to many including Barnabus Oyugi, Norah Nyandigisi, Grace Momanyi, Beatrice and Violet Gisemba, Hon. Joash Maangi (Kisii Deputy Governor), Joshua Gongera, Rachel, Prof Jane Nyaanga (Egerton University), late Henry Ratemo, Josephine Kemunto, Walter Amwatah (NIS), Peter Matangi, and Paul Okemwa; Bwamwabo to the Omwegas, Onditis, Momanyis, Machinis, Oisebes among others. She was a Great Aunt to Marsden, Maureen, Phillip,Andrew, Eliud, Bryan among many others and second mum to so many more.

As we respect the Covid guidelines, the cortege will leave the funeral home for a celebration service to be held on Thursday, 10th September 2020 from 3.30pm, at Ngong SDA Church and thereafter she will be laid to rest on Friday, 11th September 2020 from 10.30am at her home on Kahara Road, Ngong.
