It is with heavy hearts and humble acceptance of God’s will that we announce the sudden passing of Mrs. Millicent Achieng’ Obaso, which occurred in the mid-morning hours of Thursday 29th October, 2020.

Daughter of the late Mzee Walter Edwin Ogara and Mama Teresa Olewe Ogara of Sakwa, Awendo, Migori County. Wife of the late James Herbert Obaso of Karateng, Kisumu County. Mother of the late Owiso Odera (USA), Sheila Odera (USA) and the late Sharon Odera (USA). Step-mother of Victor, Gladys, Peter Oruka, Gillianne and Julie Obaso. Daughter-in-law the late Mzee Shem Angugo Adero and Mama Rhoda Ger Angugo of Karateng, Kisumo. Mother-in-law of Nicole Comp (USA). Sister of Mrs. Joyce Onyango, the late Margaret Odindo, Prof. William Okelo Ogara, Rev. John Samuel Ojode (USA), Rev. Beatrice Othieno, Mrs. Sylvia Ogutu, the Late George Odongo, the late James Awange and Rubina Adhiambo.

Sister-in-law of the late Felista Nyakwaka, the late Richard Onyango Ongeche, Dr. Maurice Odindo, Dr. Esther Amma Ogara, Prof. Lucy Ojode (USA), Prof. Herrick Othieno, Ms. Cecile Comp (USA), Lay Canon Joseph Ogutu, the late Risper Odongo, Ms. Joyce Apondi Awange, and Mr. Sixtus Odumbe. Aunty of Walter, Eng. Grace, Phillip, Audrey, Catherine Odindo-Brannon (USA), Michael, Antonina,Ancent Odindo, Dr. Edwin Ogara, Clare, Dinah, Eric Ogara,Teresa Ojode Arauz (USA), Emmanuel (USA), Catherine (USA), Benjamin (USA), Judy (UK), Nicholas (Canada),Walter Othieno, Joy, Kevin and Debby Ogutu, Terry and Claire Awange.

Cousin of Peter Nyakwaka, Wilkister Osure, the late Shem Bati and the late George Okwiri, and adoring Aunty of Antony, Dr. Dorothy Obudho (Egerton University), Ben, Siprose, Monica, Walter and the late John Mark Nyakwaka, Walter Bati, Dr. Otieno, Pauline, Grace and Ajwang’ Bati; Kennedy, Kepha, Nancy, Wycliffe, Sr. Mildred Okwiri; and the Osure family, among others.

A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday 4th November, 2020 at 2:30pm at St. Marks Church, Westlands, Nairobi. Thereafter, a fundraising will be held at All Saint’s Cathedral, opp Serena Hotel, Nairobi from 5:30pm.

Burial will be held on Friday 6th November, 2020 at her Nyabera Village, Kisumu Karateng’, Kisumu County starting from 9:00am.
