As his family, relatives and friends, we take this opportunity to register our sincere appreciation to all those who stood by us individually and collectively through prayers, messages, visits and financial support, thereby enabling us to muster the courage to come to terms with the painful loss, and accord him a befitting send-off in spite of the hard times occasioned by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Since we can neither enumerate nor reach you all to deliver our appreciation in recognition of your sacrifice towards making our burden lighter, we have elected to use this means to publicly convey our indebtedness to you. The personal concern and assistance from the Cabinet Secretary in charge of Ministry of Interior and Co-ordination of National Government, Dr Fred Matiang’i, Hon. Senator Prof Sam Ongeri, Hon. Senator Okong’o Omogeni, Hon. Ezekiel Machogu, Kisii County Assembly Speaker (Hon, David Kombo), MCA Ntabo Ongeri, Kisii County Commander (Jebel Munene) and the Police Service under his command, Dr. Hezekiel Oira of Mt. Kenya University, Joel Nyabayo Atandi & family and Dr. Lilian Juma both of USA, and KTDA Director Nyamweya Matonda, Dr. Otedo and family, among many others, went a long way towards the attainment of our immeasurable Ongarora Omani comfort.

We further recall, with pleasure, the contribution from the following friends and groups before and after Mzee’s departure. Dr. Solis of Nyanchwa Adventist Hospital and Dr. Kumenda and Dr. Gatune of Kisii Diagnostic Centre, Dr. Obure, Dr. Gachoiro, Dr. Ochieng’ and Vincent Mogeni of War Memorial Hospital in Nakuru, Dr. Ngulungu, William Motuka of Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital, and Gesusu Sub-County Hospital staff deserve special mention for their undivided attention to detail during Mzee’s illness. We also thank the Seventh-day Adventist Church (Kisii Central, Lavington, Crater, Getare, Matibo, ltaro and Omobeera) as well as the Pentecostal Assemblies of God (RiaGetenga and Geteri) for all manner of assistance. The administration and staff of Maseno University, Kisii University, University of Nairobi and Dedan Kimathi University. Kenya Airways family, Kenyan Scholars Net in De, Scholarmedia, KUDSA, Mesabisabi and Riondong’a Schools. Nakuru Committee, Geteri-Gesusu Committee, Kiamunyi Prayer Cell, Kisii School alumni (classes `87, ’93 and 97), University of Nairobi Pharmacy alumni (2003) and Law Class of 93, the Rift Valley Law Society members, and Donnies Hotel (Nakuru) shouldered much of our burden in equal measure.

We have this blessed hope and faith that burn within hearts, that we shall be reunited with Mzee Peter Ongarora Omari at the Second Advent of the Lord Jesus Christ, in fulfilment of the promise in 1 Thessalonians 4: 16.
