PROF NORBERT OPIYO AKETCH

I, on behalf of the Board of Directors, Management and Staff of Kisumu Water & Sanitation Company celebrate the life of Prof. Norbert Opiyo Aketch, who passed away on 16th February, 2022 while receiving treatment in India.

Until his demise, Prof was a Director of KIWASCO. Nobert was elected to the Board of Directors on 23rd December, 2020 to represent Institutions of Higher learning.

While a Board member, Prof was appointed to chair the Technical committee of the Board.

He was also a member of the Human Resources, Legal & Corporate Affairs committee.

Prof. as we commonly referred to him, was always jovial, outgoing, friendly, humble, liked joking with peers, thorough in his work, keen listener and always carried out himself professionally during Board meetings.

Nobert was a Geologist by profession and during his tenure at KIWASCO, he tried to change the narrative of relying on surface water only for production but instead shifted the thinking of using, ground water as a resource.

Additionally, he helped in formulating policies on controlled drilling in the City of Kisumu.

Indeed, Prof. has left a big gap and that cannot go without mention.

A good soul has ascended to heaven and now he rests in eternal peace.
