RETIRED SENIOR CHIEF WALTER NGUNIU GATHIRU

It is with a heavy heart and in submission to the will of God that we announce the death of Retired Senior Chief Walter Nguniu Gathiru which occurred on Tuesday, 27th October, 2020 at Nairobi Hospital after a short illness.

He was the beloved husband to Phyllis Nyawira Ngunju. Son of the late John Kuria Ngare and the late Mary Wangui Kuria and stop-son to the late Lydia Wanjugu and the late Wakonyo. Son-in-law of the late Zakayo Nduhiu and Dorcas Njokl Nduhiu. Loving father to Mary Wangui, Dorcas Njoki, John Kuria, Zakayo Njuguna and Beatrice Wanjiru. Father-in-law to Lucy Wangecl, Grace Waithera and Wallace Karita. He was brother to the late Linus Kiboi, Beatrice Wanjiru, Eunice Wambui, Charles Kagenyo and many steps-brothers and sisters. He was grandfather to Ngunju Karluki, Mwangi Kariuki, Ngunju Njoki, Nyawira Njoki, Ngunju Kuria, Waweru Kuria, Njuguna Kuria, Ngunju Muguna Senior, Ngunju Njuguna Junior, Nyawira Njuguna, and Mwaura Karlra. He was a brother-in-law, cousin and uncle to many.

Family and friends are meeting at his home, Uhuru Village, Tumaini Location, Upper Gilgil Scheme, Nyandarua County, Bull Head Hotel in Ol-Kalou and Homeland Inn along Thika Road, Nairobi from 5.30pm daily.

The funeral date will be announced later.
